Libraries receive funding for Platinum Jubilee celebrations

Every library service in England will receive £1000 from Arts Council England to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next June.

Libraries Connected will distribute a total of £175,000 to help libraries mark the occasion with a range of local events and activities in their communities.

Carol Stump, President, Libraries Connected, said:

'This funding places libraries at the centre of what will be a fantastic range of activities to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. I am excited to see how libraries work with local artists to deliver a creative programme to engage both regular users and their wider communities in this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.'

The Arts Council’s funding to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee is part of a programme of cultural events taking place across the UK during 2022, including the Commonwealth Games and Unboxed.
