London's libraries were visited by almost 32 million people last year

Public libraries in London are celebrating a year of success, having welcomed almost 32 million people through their doors in 2023 to 2024. The 2023-24 report from London Libraries also reveals almost 33 million issues (physical and digital combined) were made last year.

Amidst a difficult financial climate for public libraries, services across the region met with a high level of success in obtaining external funding and embarking on ambitious new projects. These included:

  • Read On

London Libraries were successful in applying for more than £25,000 from the LibraryOn funding programme to develop ReadOn, a groundbreaking reading app for London.

  • Visual Impairment Ambassadors

After working in partnership with the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), each library service now has a Visual Impairment Ambassador responsible for supporting the service in being more inclusive to blind and partially-sighted customers.
